Although I may not be Catholic, the Vatican was something truly amazing. From the hallways filled with art and sculptures hundreds of years old, to standing in St. Peter's Basilica, I learned so much about something I only knew a little about.
After our tour of the Vatican Museums, we met with Sean-Patrick Lovett who's runs the Pope's media operations. We learned, laughed and got hear how the Pope reaches his world wide audience through media. One of the lessons that Sean told us was that of how we control our fate and destiny with the talents we have and those we don't. This was represented by your right and left hand. On your right hand, are the skills and talents you have. Your left hand was what are you doing with those talents and skills to shape your path and destiny.
On my right hand I would say the skills and talents that I bring are those of a hard worker, who brings passion to what i do no matter what. I see a problem and I try and find creative ways to solve the problem. I am a people person, and in the future I want to bring consistent communication between people in the world of sports. The talents and skills on my right hand hopefully will lead me on my path to my destiny on my left hand. Some of the things that I'm doing with my skills to take advantage of my destiny is working and taking advantage of the opportunities before me. Working for Michigan State Athletic Communications and the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament are opportunities I have take to learn and grow. When I return from my study abroad I will get the opportunity to interview with my childhood team the Detroit Tigers, and work in their foundation working in community relations and communications. I only wish to continue to grow from these opportunities hopefully leading me to my destiny.
The Vatican was an eye opening experience that I hope I never forget.
