Meeting an olympian

Today we met with French judo olympian Anne-Sophie Mondiere. She told us about her journey to two olympics and what she has done after as a journalist. Hearing all she had to go through just to be there made me think about all the pressure that comes with being an olympian. Just to have the flag on your chest is an honor to represent your country and all those back home. For olympians playing smaller sports and competing for a medal,

many people may not know who they are or even get to see them compete, but for the athlete the pressure is at an all time high cause of all the training they have gone through to get to this point.

Even if an athlete doesn't win a medal, I believe that doesn't make you a failure. So many people wish for the opportunity to compete at the same level, and one should be proud of themselves for getting there and be happy no matter the performance. Failure often makes the best motivator to to perform better next time.

Seeing an olympian win from your country gives you a different sense of pride. But you cant win them all and sometimes you have to remember olympians are human beings too. As we go about our daily lives olympians train and train just for their one shot and if they come up short we should be there too support them no matter what.
